The U.S. Embassy in Vilnius is pleased to present The Land Where Blues Began, an audio-visual seminar about American blues music and Afro-American folklore. As part of the Black History Month American folklorists Ms. Anna Lomax Wood and Mr. Todd Harvey will be visiting Lithuania on February 14 and 15.
The American speakers will explore the contribution of African Americans to American and world music through the work of folklorists Alan and John Lomax - pioneers in collecting, studying, and disseminating black folk songs, the roots of the blues. The combined corpus of collected recordings is now housed at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
