Students from Grigiškių Šviesos gymnasium visit the American Center

January 24, 2012

On Tuesday, January 24, students from Grigiškių Šviesos gymnasium visited the American Center. Amy Jennette talked to the 8th and 10th graders about the U.S. Embassy and what each section does, while our youngest outreach presenter William Jennette led a lively discussion about schools and universities in America. The students had interesting questions that stimulated conversation about U.S. National Parks, and where in the U.S. they might want to visit. Some students wanted to study there, some wanted to visit the large cities, and many wanted to experience American Culture firsthand. Grigiškės students also enjoyed their opportunity to speak to Staff Sergeant Benjamin J. Maynard, Commander of the Embassy’s Marine Detachment, who stressed the importance of education, and shared stories about his own time attending high school in America.
