Presentation of USAID NGO Sustainability Index

On September 12th, DCM Anne Hall delivered welcoming remarks at the launch event of the 15th USAID NGO Sustainability Index, now called Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Sustainability Index. The Index has tracked the progress of the CSO sector in twenty-nine countries over the past fifteen years. It examines the overall enabling environment for civil society, focusing on the legal environment, organizational capacity, financial viability, advocacy, service provision, infrastructure, and public image.
Lithuanian NGO Community Change Center, has been partnering with USAID for ten years in drafting the report for Lithuania, however this was the first time when Index results were presented to the broader local audience. During the event, NGO and GOL representatives have also discussed possibilities to improve the environment in which civil society organizations operate.
