Call for Candidates for AY 2011-2012 will be announced in May 2010
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship program is a one-year program that combines non-degree graduate level academic work at selected American universities with professional development opportunities for mid-career professionals for both public and private sector with strong leadership potential and commitment to public service in:
- - Agricultural Development/Agricultural Economics
- - Communications/Journalism
- - Substance Abuse Education, Treatment and Prevention (NIDA)
- - Economic Development/ Finance and Banking
- - Education Administration, Planning and Policy
- - HIV/AIDS Policy and Prevention
- - Human Resources Management
- - Law and Human Rights
- - Natural Resources, Environmental Policy, and Climate Change
- - Public Health Policy and Management
- - Public Policy Analysis and Public Administration
- - Teaching of EFL (Teacher Training or Curriculum Development)
- - Technology Policy and Management
- - Trafficking in Persons, Policy and Prevention
- - Urban and Regional Planning
To be eligible for a Humphrey Fellowship you must:
- be a mid-career professional in leadership position,
- have a commitment to public service and the potential for professional advancement
- have at least five years of professional experience in the field after completing a university degree prior to August 20010
- be interested in the policy aspects of their fields of specialization
- be proficient in both written and spoken English (minimum TOEFL score of 195 computer-based).
Ineligible candidates include:
- recent university graduates
- faculty members with no management responsibilities (except in the fields of drug abuse prevention and EFL)
- individuals who have attended a graduate school in the U.S. for one academic year or more during the seven years prior to August 2011
- individuals with other recent U.S. experience (more than 6 months within the last 5 years prior to August 2011)
NOTE: candidates with recent professional or study experience in a highly developed country should justify why this experience has not already addressed the need of the candidate for professional training and leadership development.
