Immigrant visas
Adoption in Lithuania
According to adoption law in Lithuania, foreign adoptions are legally allowed. In practice, however, the Lithuanian government closely scrutinizes any adoptions of Lithuanian orphans by foreigners.
Please note that beginning the week of April 06, 2009 immigrant visas will be processed at the U.S. Embassy in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Prospective parents should contact the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Vilnius by telephone (370) 5 266 5600, or by e-mail to ConSec@state.gov to arrange an appointment.
