Ambassador Mull to Address Human Rights Monitoring Institute Discussion on "Why Human Rights need to be protected in a Democracy?"

Tomorrow, 7 December 2005 at 11.30–12.30, the Lithuanian Human Rights Monitoring Institute (HRMI) is going to have a discussion on “Why Human Rights Need to Be Protected in a Democracy?” at the conference hall of the Open Society Fund Lithuania.

Ambassador Stephen Mull will participate in the discussion with remarks addressing the importance of tolerance and civil society in defending democracy and human rights.

Vice Chairman of the Lithuanian Seimas Gintaras Steponavicius and Equal Opportunity Ombudsperson Ausrine Burneikiene also plan to participate in the discussion.

This is one of the events to mark the Human Rights Month, announced by HRMI.

The event is organized in partnership with the Lithuanian branch of the European Law Students Association (ELSA) and is supported in part by a grant from the U.S. Embassy in Lithuania (Fulbright Alumni Program).
