VISA Application Processing Fee for U.S. VISAS to be Collected at any Vilnius Bank Office

November 3, 2000

Vilnius, November 3, 2000--  The U.S. Embassy in Vilnius is pleased to announce a new system for the collection of visa application fees.  Following the signing of an agreement with Vilnius Bank on November 3, 2000, all visa application processing fees for the United States will be collected at any branch office or outlet of the Vilnius Bank anywhere in Lithuania.

This new system will go into effect for all interviews after January 1, 2001. Persons who have already received their appointment for an interview that will take place after January 1, 2001 do not need to reapply for an appointment.  However, these people will need to pay the application processing fee before coming for their interview and bring a receipt to the Embassy when appearing for their interview.   These people can pay their fee anytime between now and the time of their appointment.  Anyone applying for an appointment after January 1, 2001 must have a receipt from the bank in order to obtain an appointment sticker.

The fee is $65 equivalent in Litas, and it may be deposited at any branch office or outlet of Vilnius Bank throughout Lithuania.  Payment must be made in Litai.  The deposit must be made into ACCOUNT NO. 4603299.

This new system is part of the U.S. Embassy’s effort to better serve our customers, since payment of the fees can be done anywhere in Lithuania and applicants will not need to bring the fees with them to the Embassy.  Some 28,000 applicants for U.S. visas were interviewed last year, many of whom are not Vilnius residents.  This new system should make payment of the application processing fee simpler for all of these applicants and for the Embassy’s staff.
