U.S. Embassy Finances Training for Economists

October 12, 2001, Vilnius-- Economists from Belarus, Kaliningrad and Lithuania will gather in Vilnius from October 15 - 26 to participate in a U.S. Embassy-financed training program that was organized by the Lithuanian Banking, Insurance and Finance Institute. The program is aimed at developing a greater understanding of contemporary macro-economic theory as well as building stronger ties between public and private sector economists from Belarus, Kaliningrad and Lithuania and encouraging cooperation in the development of publishable economic research.
Specialists from the Lithuanian Finance Ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Bank of Lithuania, and university professors will deliver lectures and lead seminars.
