Delegation of U.S. Congress Members to visit Lithuania, October 10-12

Media event: on 11 October at 12:05 after the meeting with Seimas Speaker Paulauskas, there will be a press briefing in Seimas (Gedimino pr. 53, Vilnius).

Led by Republican Jim Kolbe of Arizona, six members of the U.S. Congress will visit Lithuania on October 10-12 to meet with President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus, Chair of the Lithuanian Seimas Arturas Paulauskas and American Caucus members, Minister of Defense Gediminas Kirkilas, and Belarusian opposition leaders.

The purpose of the visit is to discuss democratic development in the region, U.S. assistance programs to NATO allies, and Lithuania's strong contribution to the Global War on Terror.  Other members of the delegation include: Martin Sabo (Democrat-Minnesota), John Carter (Republican-Texas), James Moran (Democrat-Virginia), Dennis Rehberg (Republican-Montana), and John Shimkus (Republican-Illinois).
