US Science Delegation Visit in Lithuania

Media event: today, 5 Oct 2004, the US Science Delegation 4.30 p.m. will share their impressions of the visit in the Baltic countries at the Lithuanian Academy of Science Hall (Gedimino pr. 3, Vilnius). A press conference is scheduled at 5.30 p.m.  

A Delegation of high level US scientists and officials is visiting the Baltic countries on September 26 – October 6. The delegation will stay in Lithuania October 1 - 6, 2004.

The primary goal of the visit is to initiate further cooperation between U.S. scientific agencies and their counterparts in the Baltic countries by looking at the scientific capacity and priorities of each country.  

It is hoped that this visit will help establish long-term, collaborative relationships between U.S. and Lithuanian Science and Technology communities.

The delegation includes representatives from the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, National Institute of Health, Department of Agriculture/Forest Service, U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation.

The delegation will meet with heads of Lithuanian science institutions, and visit to Kaunas Technological and Medical Universities, Vilnius University, Science Council, Institute of Physics, Geology Service and other science institutions.
