September 11th Interfaith Gathering to Commemorate Victims of Terrorism

Media event: 11 September 2006, 15:30-16:30, Lutheran Church, Vokieciu g. 20, Vilnius. Working media are kindly invited to participate. Laying of wreaths is scheduled for 15:50.
The faith communities of Vilnius, in conjunction with the representatives of nations that have suffered terrorism, and representatives of the Government of Lithuania, will hold an international interfaith gathering in memory of all past victims of terrorism.
The gathering will take place on Monday, September 11 at 15:30 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Vokieciu g. 20, Vilnius. The public and media are also welcome, though seating will be limited.
Lutheran Bishop Mindaugas Sabutis will open the gathering, which will feature sacred choral music, and readings and prayers by religious leaders, including representatives from the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and Muslim faiths.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Kirkilas and the participating Ambassadors will lay wreaths; donations for the International Red Cross/Red Crescent will also be collected.
