On the second anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C., the U.S. Embassy in Vilnius will host a commemoration ceremony at 12:00 pm on the Embassy premises.
Chairman of the Lithuanian Seimas Mr. Arturas Paulauskas and Ambassador Stephen D. Mull will make short statements and together unveil a plaque on the Embassy wall next to the place where many Lithuanians came to express their grief over the victims and support for the United States. A Lithuanian military band will play national anthems.
The public is invited to attend the ceremonies that will begin promptly at noon on September 11 and last about 30 minutes. Gates will be open at 11:30 am for the general public.
That evening, the Vilnius Rotuse Hall will host a concert by the Klaipeda Music Center Choir “Aukuras” with guest conductor/soloist Ira Spaulding from the U.S.A. to commemorate “Spirit of Freedom Tribute Day”.
