U.S. Independence Day Celebration will Recognize several Lithuanian Contributors to Democracy

Media which is not pre-registered will not be allowed into the event.  

Photos (ELTA) and wire service reports (BNS) will be available.  

At his annual July fourth celebration of U.S. independence, Ambassador Mull will recognize the contributions to democracy of the following four groups of Lithuanians:

-- The family of Lt. Col. Gintautas Zenkevicius, the commander of the Lithuanian Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Afghanistan and MFA Political Advisor to the PRT, Dainius Baublys for their leadership in helping others gain the benefits of good government;

-- Anatoli Mikhailov, president of the Vilnius-based European Humanities University International for his contributions to education in support of democracy;

-- Audrone Mateviciene the General Director of Master Foods Lithuania for excellence in modern management and production practices; and

-- Chief Inspectors Dalius Kryzanauskas and Saulius Skeiveris of the Lithuanian Police in Siauliai for their efforts in combatting the Trafficking of Persons;

The Ambassador will mention each of these exceptional Lithuanians and some of their achievements in his remarks on July 4.  There will be an opportunity to photograph the groups as they step up to the stage and receive bouquets from the Ambassador and his spouse, Ms. Cheri Stephan.
