U.S. Embassy Congratulates American Caucus on Successful Trip to the United States
22 June 2006
The United States Embassy congratulates the American Caucus of the Lithuanian Seimas on its successful trip to the United States and welcomes the delegation back to Lithuania. The important and extensive inter-parliamentary exchange was a vivid example of the strength of the Lithuanian-American friendship.
The Embassy applauds the successful cooperation and strong relationship between the Lithuanian and U.S. governments at all levels. The American Caucus’s ambitious trip, which included meetings with key U.S. congressional leaders and senior State Department officials, demonstrated the active ties that the elected officials of our two countries enjoy. The visit to Washington, D.C. and Norfolk, Virginia featured discussions on the wide-ranging areas of Lithuanian-American cooperation. U.S. congressional leaders used the opportunity to express their admiration for Lithuania’s contributions toward spreading democracy throughout the region and toward the efforts of the international community in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Visits that bring together parliamentary and congressional leaders, the direct representatives of the Lithuanian and American people, are a key component of the trans-Atlantic friendship. The U.S. Embassy looks forward to working with the American Caucus to organize future parliamentary exchanges, which reflect the depth of the bilateral relationship.
