Changes in the return System of Passports at the U.S. Embassy

12 May 2006

To reduce the number of times applicants have to come to the Embassy and to conform with new procedures, the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy announces that we are implementing a pass back system that will make it possible for visa applicants to get their passports with visas without having to return in person.

In the past, most applicants receiving visas returned later the same day or the next day to retrieve their passports. Now most passports can be returned by a registered delivery system.

Applicants may still pick up passports the next day at the Embassy if they prefer.  The new service should reduce the time and travel necessary for visa applicants to obtain their visas. Same-day visa service will still be possible in emergency cases.

Additional consular information can be obtained by calling (370 5) 266 5600 or by visiting our website: www.usembassy.lt  Come, travel to America.
